The object of study aims to develop an underground housing. This type of construction is characterized by subtracting mass contrary to what is observed in the construction of the surface. The proposal in question is an interpretation of natural elements with a combination of underground architecture that seeks to subtract elements. It all begins with a Mediterranean-inspired courtyard. The structure consists of a central courtyard that gives shape to the divisions required in the program.
The program for the 2º semester of Project Class was to find a solution for a shelter for a lonely walker of a century route that cross the Algarve region from side to side. The specs of the place worked along this semester to find a solution that at the same time celebrates the magic place provided by legends and natural resources and the program it self. It accentuates a path from the sacred to the profane, from whats natural and human bilt.
This was the final presentation for the first semester of the Project class - Architecture Elements. This study was based on graphic analysis, kinetics, spatiality, light and historic time of a church square in the old part of the city of Portimão in Algarve, Portugal. This was meant to represent sensations and the way to translate them in to a arquitecture piece.
